Welcome
Gathering
Let us join together to worship the God who fulfills all promises, Jesus Christ, the hope born of Mary, and the Holy Spirit, who fuels our hope as we await Christ’s return. Confession (Written by Sem. Kayla Sadowy and The Rev. Carla Christopher Wilson) Jesus, who comes as new birth, we have prepared for you with comfortable traditions and humble requests. We have memorialized your birth as if it was a past act and not the bold declaration of a living God. |
We have rested in the safer hope of your work,
abandoning our call as co-creators of the Beloved Community, harming your children with our ill-informed action and comfort-catering inaction. All this we humbly confess. Help us remember in this season of anticipation that we prepare not only for you, but because of you. Challenge us to examine our intentions, and to hold sacred both the act of preparing, and the transforming justice and love of the one who comes. Amen |
God of the prophets, your voice cries out through your people, in wildernesses of all kinds. As your voice comforts and challenges us, remind us that our hope lies in your promise of wholeness and restoration. Through your Spirit, we pray. Amen.
Call to Worship
Mary, did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters? Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new? This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you |
Mary, did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy will calm the storm with his hand? Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God Mary, did you know? (Did you know?) Mary, did you know? The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again The lame will leap, the dumb will speak the praises of the lamb! Mary, did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary, did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations? Did you know that your baby boy is Heaven's perfect Lamb? That sleeping child you're holding is the great I am |
Lighting of the candles
Advent Wreath Lighting Week 2: What
(by Rev. Elizabeth Rawlings) With voices rising, rising like incense, *light 2 candles* We reach to you in hope, our God We reach to you in hope, our God It is hard, in these days, to have hope To invest in things we do not understand To believe in things we have not experienced To trust that all will be well |
But you, O God, are a keeper of promises
You promised to create a nation, and you did You promised a savior, and you dwelt among us You promised forgiveness, and you give it We grasp for you in hope We await your return with expectation We look to the renewal of all things with joy We prepare for you through acts of love We reach for you in hope, our God We reach for you in hope, our God Your promise to be fulfilled |

OFFERTORY Prayer
We return these gifts to you, O Lord, out of the bounty you have given us. May our resources -- our time, our talent, our power, our privilege, and our money, be used for the good of all, as a sign of hope for the future you have promised.
Amen

PRAYERS & Blessing
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

"LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS" PROJECT
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it … The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world." (John 1:5, 9).
The “Light in the Darkness” project has 3 parts, all happening now:
1. Lights on some trees at Glory and a manger - open for visitors!
2. An invitation to deliver prayers to the manger (and maybe a small electric tea light candle). See this week's e-news for details!
3. Donations of Christmas gift cards, clothing, and food bank items, as outlined below:

IN-PERSON WORSHIP SERVICES & MEETINGS at GLORY
Most of you are probably aware that infection rates of Covid-19 have been increasing rapidly. Further restrictions have recently been announced to hopefully slow down this spread.
We have received a pastoral letter from our bishop, The Rev. Dr. Larry Kochendorfer, regarding the recently announced COVID-19 restrictions and his strong recommendation that all congregations suspend in-person worship and meetings until the pandemic response level is lowered.
The safety measures and guidelines we have implemented at Glory are well within the allowed restrictions. However, caring for one another and for members of our community is something that God calls us to do. Therefore, for now, we plan to follow Bishop Larry’s recommendation and cancel in-person worship services and meetings for the time being.
We encourage you to read Bishop Larry’s letter in its entirety

GLORY LUTHERAN CHURCH FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN:
Fulfilling God’s Vision for our Land: The Next Chapter
Total as of December 4: $336,180.03
Dear Glory Family,
It’s hard to believe that it's less than a year since we stepped out in faith to purchase the remaining 28 acres of land, and only 3 months since we launched our campaign to raise the necessary funding.
As a family of faith, we responded in a big way! By mid-November, we reached our goal of $300,000 and have now surpassed it, with a total of $336,180.03!
In the midst of the pandemic, the physical separation and distancing, we still managed to come together, united in purpose and prayer. To God be all glory!
Through your very generous gifts and your faithful prayers, we are now in a wonderful position, free to explore how best to use this beautiful piece of God’s creation for His glory and to serve His people. The possibilities are limitless!
We are so grateful for the funds raised beyond the goal amount. These funds will go towards the mortgage, which is up for renewal on 31 December. The Stewardship Committee is currently working on finalizing that. If there are additional funds received and identified for the campaign, they will also be directed to the mortgage.
Thank you again for your prayers, your encouragement, and your very generous gifts. We look forward to continuing this journey, to writing the next chapter in our story as a family that God has brought together for His purpose and His glory.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Pat or Aroon:
