COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS UPDATE June 24, 2022:
We ask that people continue to follow protocols such as social distancing, hand sanitizing, and masking in order to keep themselves and other members of our congregation safe. Starting July 1st, Council has made the decision to make wearing masks during the service up to each individual based on their comfort level. We will continue to provide sanitizer and spare masks for those that wish to wear them. |

September 3, 2021 |
Our last online service in this format will be this Sunday, September 5. While Pastor Markus is on vacation, we have been using the Summer Sermon Series. These sermons have been prepared by the Bishops and Assistant Bishops of the ELCIC for use in congregations during the summer.
Our church council continues to follow the COVID-19 situation closely, and if all goes well, we are planning to return to in-person worship on September 12. We are so looking forward to seeing everyone! However, it is a reality that, as of this week, only 58.6% of all people in Alberta have been fully vaccinated. Cases of COVID-19 are increasing rapidly. We know that members of our Glory family are at many different stages and comfort levels at this time: some are fully vaccinated and some are not, we are all different ages and with varied health concerns, some are caregivers to fragile family members, work situations are different for all, etc. We received a letter of encouragement and advice from Bishop Larry Kochendorfer this past week. (I encourage you to read it! You can find it here.) At this time, with respect to any in-person gatherings, for meetings and worship, he strongly encourages being vaccinated and continued use of masks, physical distancing, and careful sanitization. He states that “In all situations, err on the side of love for your neighbour.” As we care for each other, Glory’s church council has made the decision to be very cautious as we return to in-person worship and to move forward with small steps as we worship together. The plan right now is as follows (subject to change):

RETURN TO IN-PERSON WORSHIP:
Our church council continues to follow the COVID–19 situation closely and has been discussing the possibility of a return to in-person worship in September. We are cautiously optimistic that the pandemic is winding down and that we will be able to gather safely again. The Public Health Agency of Canada has released its official guidelines for Canadians who have been vaccinated against COVID-19. You may find these useful. They can be found here: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/awareness-resources/vaccinated-against-covid-19-public-health-measures.html For now, as we care for each other's wellbeing, all activities at Glory are proceeding with most precautions against Covid-19 still in place. We have scheduled outdoor services for Sunday, July 25th, and Sunday, August 8th. There will be Holy Communion on these Sundays. Please bring communion elements with you for your use. Bring your own lawn chair and hat and sunscreen if needed. Please note this on your calendar and watch the e-news for any further details. Online worship will continue on these Sundays. |

November 14, 2020IN-PERSON WORSHIP SERVICES & MEETINGS at GLORY
Most of you are probably aware that infection rates of Covid-19 have been increasing rapidly. Further restrictions have recently been announced to hopefully slow down this spread. We have received a pastoral letter from our bishop, The Rev. Dr. Larry Kochendorfer, regarding the recently announced COVID-19 restrictions and his strong recommendation that all congregations suspend in-person worship and meetings until the pandemic response level is lowered. The safety measures and guidelines we have implemented at Glory are well within the allowed restrictions. However, caring for one another and for members of our community is something that God calls us to do. Therefore, for now, we plan to follow Bishop Larry’s recommendation and cancel in-person worship services and meetings for the time being. We encourage you to read Bishop Larry’s letter in its entirety. |
