God has entrusted humankind with the responsibility to be stewards of creation, to care and share, to touch the earth with gentleness and with love, to respect all living things and to responsibly use the resources generously given to us.
The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (Genesis 2:15)
On a daily basis our lives are defined by the choices we make.  Stewardship of creation relates to how we, as Christians, choose to use the gifts God has bestowed on us in furthering His mission in this world.  We become faithful stewards when we acknowledge God’s creation and the abundance of His gifts and respond with a determination to care for creation.  
Since our formation in 2004 the Glory congregation has made a commitment to try and minimize our impact on our environment.
Some of our strategies at Glory include:
  1. Introducing recycling awareness and practices in Kid’s Church.
  2. Hosting Bible studies with a creation care theme.
  3. Introducing creation care themes in pulpit messages and children’s stories.
  4. Providing information, tips and articles in bulletins and newsletters to raise creation care awareness.
  5. The creation of a Creation Care Support Team to help raise awareness about our responsibility for creation care.
  6. Replacing plastic communion cups with compostable and recyclable  cups made from corn.
  7. Sorting materials into recycling, organics, paper and cardboard, glass and waste categories.
  8. Minimizing the use of single use plastic bags.
  9. Collecting recyclable containers (e.g. pop, juice, milk and alcohol) for deposit at the local bottle depot.
  10. Recycling photocopier toner cartridges at local retailer drop boxes or through the Strathcona County Enviro Center.
  11. Recycling electronics when necessary (e.g. computers, monitors) at the Strathcona County Enviro Center.
  12. Recycling batteries used in electronics or security lights at the Strathcona County Enviro Center.
  13. Collecting used clothing, eyeglasses and stamps for those who can use them.
  14. Using glassware, china tableware and flatware rather than using Styrofoam coffee cups, plastic refreshment cups, non-compostable paper cups, paper plates and plastic utensils.
  15. Making pitchers of water and glasses available rather than water in plastic bottles.
  16. Reducing the number of printed bulletins and newsletters.
  17. Replacing sanctuary lighting and pot lights (incandescent, halogen and flood) throughout the facility with LED’s.
  18. Replacing 24/7 interior security lighting with more efficient fluorescent lights.
  19. Utilizing programmable thermostats, low flush toilets, and electric controlled faucets in washrooms.
  20. Utilizing entrance mats made from recyclable tires.
  21. The replacement of tower windows with more energy efficient units.
  22. The creation of a community garden and composting garden residue.
  23. Collecting and storing water from the church roof for use on the community garden.
  24. Planting fruit and evergreen trees.
