Strathcona Food Bank
There are two important ways you can help the Food Bank:
1. Donate food or money
2. Work at the Food Bank.
Donate:
To donate food to the Food Bank, bring canned goods or dry foods to the church and deposit them in the Food Bank bin in the Narthex.
Most needed items include:
beans with or without pork, canned meat, canned fish, canned fruit or vegetables, peanut
butter, powdered milk, macaroni and cheese diners, pasta and pasta sauce, cereal and oatmeal,
and school snack items such as juice boxes, fruit cups and granola bars.
Work at the Food Bank:
The Strathcona Food Bank relies completely on volunteer staff to get the work done.
They are very much understaffed in the department which picks up donations. Each morning, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, drivers, swampers and packers make rounds to the local grocery stores. They pack-up donations, load the Food Bank truck and at the end of the run return to the Food Bank and unload donations.
Volunteer packers are especially needed. These people go to the stores ahead of the trucks to get donations packed and ready for the truck.
If you are looking for a part-time volunteer position, the Food Bank would appreciate your help. Please contact the Food Bank at 780-449-6413 or talk to one of several Glory
parishioners who are experienced Food Bank volunteers!
