Since our formation in 2004 the Glory congregation has made a commitment to try and minimize our impact on our environment.

Some of our strategies at Glory include:

1. Introducing recycling awareness and practices in Kid’s Church.
2. Hosting Bible studies with a creation care theme.
3. Introducing creation care themes in pulpit messages and children’s stories.
4. Providing information, tips and articles in bulletins and newsletters to raise creation care awareness.
5. Participating in the observance of Earth Hour, Earth Day, and Season of Creation​
6. Sorting materials into bins for organics, recycling (cardboard, mixed paper, metal, glass, hard plastics, tetra packs) and waste.
7. Collecting recyclable containers (e.g. pop, juice, milk and alcohol) for deposit at the local bottle depot. 
8. Minimizing the use of single use plastic bags.
9. Recycling photocopier toner cartridges at local retailer drop boxes or through the Broadview Enviroservice Station.
10. Recycling electronics when necessary (e.g. computers, monitors) at the Broadview Enviroservice Station.
11. Recycling batteries used in electronics or security lights at the Broadview Enviroservice Station.
12. Collecting used clothing, eyeglasses and stamps for those who can use them.
13. Using glassware, china tableware and flatware rather than using Styrofoam coffee cups, plastic refreshment cups, non-compostable paper cups and plastic utensils.
14. Making pitchers of water and glasses available rather than water in plastic bottles.
15. Technology innovations have facilitated the circulation of our monthly "Church Matters" Newsletter and "Glory Lutheran Church Weekly E-News" electronically helping to reduce the amount of paper consumed while improving communication. 
16. Replacing sanctuary lighting and pot lights (incandescent, halogen and flood) throughout the facility with LED’s.
17. Replacing 24/7 interior security lighting with more efficient fluorescent lights.
18. Utilizing programmable thermostats, low flush toilets, and electric controlled faucets in washrooms.
19. Utilizing entrance mats made from recyclable tires.
20. The replacement of tower windows with more energy efficient units.
21. The creation of a community garden and composting garden residue.
22. Items that can be reused or repurposed are taken to second hand stores, or to the Hodge Podge Lodge at the Broadview Enviroservice Station
23. Planting fruit and evergreen trees.​
